Michael Betancourt is an independent scholar whose critical writing focuses on an interdisciplinary approach to the intersection between theory, artistic practice and issues in interpretation. He holds an interdisciplinary doctorate from the University of Miami, focusing on the relationship between theory and practice in contemporary art. He has written several books on visual music and color organ technologies, and he has been published by CTheory, Leonardo, Semiotica, and Tout-Fait, among others. He lives in Des Moines, IA.
