Anita Hammer is a Professor of Theatre and Drama at the Queen Maud University College of Early Childhood Education in Trondheim, where she is also a member of the scientific board, Norway. From 2002 until 2011 she was a Professor and earlier an associated professor at the University of Oslo, Norway. She has previously lived and worked in New Zealand as a teacher and freelance actor and writer.

 

Specialities in research and teaching areas: Performance theory, spiritual performance and ritual studies, Play and notions of play. Mythologies and ritual, children in ritual and aesthetic performance. Hammer is presently initiating a new research project combining aesthetic expression and experience with spiritual healing together with health practitioners and performance artists.

 

Administrative experience includes: Program Director for Cultural Studies, Faculty of Humanities, University of  Oslo 2005-08. Leader of Section for Theatre Studies Department of Music and Theatre, University of Oslo 2003-05. Board member of National Committee for drama and theatre education Norway 2004-06, Theatre Museum of Norway 2003-05 and of Nordic Theatre Research organisation 2004-06. Number editor of Nordic Theatre Studies 2006. Member of National Jury for Ibsen Award 2007/8. Member of the Phd evaluation committee for aesthetic research University of Oslo.
