Li Guo is an Assistant Professor of Chinese at Utah State University, USA. She received her PhD in Comparative Literature from University of Iowa in 2010. Her recent publications include an essay on Chinese tanci (Suzhou chantefables) in Frontiers of Literary Studies in China, and a forthcoming essay in Film International on the issue of sound and female voice in Stanley Kwan's Film Ruan Lingyu. She is now working on a book manuscript on women's literary tanci works in late imperial and early modern China. Her research interest includes studies of women's narratives, film, folk tradition, and oral performance.
