DOMESTICITY
can seem never ending
so ground into the earth, so boring
but it’s where real life happens
not that the life of the mind doesn’t count
just that it only counts in so far as it has effects
right here. Like why does the back lane
get so neglected in favour of the front? First thing
most of us see as we venture into our other worlds
that’s actually a discarded car down there and the garage
on the right is near collapse. These are properties not homes
at least at the back. Their fronts tell another story
I wave to people here and they wave back
and we all wish that here where we live
were as exciting as life in our best dreams
