LIGHT GREEN
I'm writing with a light green pencil
because it's time to learn to say Eyjafjallajökull
and hope that something good can come out of this
as when Tambora in Indonesia erupted in 1815 causing the year without
summer in 1816 and Lord Byron came up
with a contest to keep his guests occupied at Lake Geneva
Or, as when Lakagigur (Iceland, again), beginning in 1783,
spread famine across Europe and the final straw of failed harvests
broke open a world of brotherhood
The earth wants rid of pressures, humans and their systems too
Katla (or something bigger) may be awaiting its turn, airlines may collapse
but I hope we can learn to fly more in line with the earth
